THE BERGEL INSTITUTE
The Bergel Institute is dedicated to the advancement of human knowledge and the human condition.
The Institute pursues in-depth examinations of both theoretical and applied sciences to assess their validity and implications for enhancing the human condition. It examines research and developments in health and technology while also working daily to effect change in areas such as poverty, human trafficking, and human enslavement, each of which can be found across the U.S. and around the world. The failure of collective efforts to eradicate these issues over generations motivates the Institute to work with pressing urgency and to build partnerships across the globe.
Fellowships
The Institute supports one-year Fellowships for individuals of all ages who wish to pursue intensive study in economics, science, technology, consciousness, health, or culture. Each year, the Institute will list specific topics within these six areas, but applicants may suggest a different topic in their application as long as it aligns with the Institute’s goals. The Institute serves as an incubator for Fellows to prepare their work for future growth or to establish their own organizations to effectively address the issues. Upon completion of their Fellowship year, individuals are required to serve as mentors for future Fellows, ensuring that their accumulated knowledge and experiences are poured into their successors.
Action Guide
The founders of The Bergel Institute bring decades of experience working on poverty at the grassroots level and in research and policy analysis. That experience led to the development of the Institute’s Action Guide. The aim of the Guide is not just to provide a list of good deeds one can do but to share what can lead directly to people in your community rising out of poverty on a permanent basis.
