We live in a time where many feel that technology is outpacing people’s ability to utilize it. There is a corresponding concern that some aspects of today’s technological advances are replacing humans and even replacing human experiences.
Not only do advanced technologies such as robotics and nanotechnology allow us to explore and create at levels previously not possible, today’s cell phone technology has replaced many forms of human interaction and made global communication instant and effortless.
Similarly, AI has brought more information and greater speed to our learning and to our tasks, small and large, than most could have imagined just a decade ago. This has brought life-saving techniques and tools, and it has brought dangers and deceptions. Reality itself is now difficult to discern from what is easily created via myriad technologies.
The Institute’s research and programming, as well as its Fellowships and Internships, focus on how technology can bring cohesion and elevation to society as a whole.
